Terms and conditions
Water-Ski Club – Terms & Conditions
These Terms & Conditions apply to all members, guests, and visitors of OWSC (“the Club”). By booking a session, holding a membership, or using the Club’s facilities, you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
1. Participation & Eligibility
Participation in water-skiing and related watersports is undertaken at your own risk.
All participants must be physically fit, able to swim confidently, and comfortable in open water.
Minimum age requirements apply and may vary depending on the activity.
Participants under the age of 18 must have written consent from a parent or legal guardian.
2. Membership & Bookings
All memberships and bookings are non-transferable.
Full payment is required at the time of booking unless otherwise agreed by the Club.
The Club reserves the right to refuse or revoke membership or access without refund in cases of misconduct or breach of these Terms.
Late arrival may result in reduced participation time, with no refund or compensation.
3. Safety & Conduct
All participants must follow instructions given by coaches, drivers, marshals, and Club staff at all times.
Approved buoyancy aids and safety equipment must be worn when instructed.
Dangerous, reckless, abusive, or disruptive behaviour will not be tolerated.
Alcohol or drug use before or during any activity is strictly prohibited.
3A. Hand Signals & On-Water Communication
All participants must understand and correctly use standard water-ski hand signals as displayed in the Club’s Hand Signals Diagram and explained during the safety briefing.
Hand signals are a mandatory safety requirement and are the primary method of communication between participants, drivers, coaches, and safety crew.
Participants must attend and pay attention to all safety briefings and confirm their understanding of the hand signals before entering the water.
Failure to correctly use or respond to hand signals may result in the session being paused or terminated for safety reasons.
The Club reserves the right to refuse access to the water or remove a participant from a session if they are deemed unable to communicate safely.
No refund or reschedule will be provided where a session is ended due to failure to understand or comply with hand-signal requirements.
4. Equipment
Personal equipment must be appropriate, well-maintained, and safe to use.
The Club reserves the right to inspect and refuse any equipment deemed unsafe.
Hired equipment remains the property of the Club and must be used responsibly.
Participants may be charged for loss of or damage to hired equipment.
5. Health & Medical
Participants must disclose any medical conditions or injuries that may affect their ability to participate safely.
Failure to disclose relevant medical information is done at the participant’s own risk.
First aid provision is available; however, participation remains entirely at the individual’s own risk.
6. Weather & Lake Conditions
All activities are subject to weather, water, and lake conditions.
The Club reserves the right to delay, modify, or cancel sessions where safety may be compromised.
No guarantee is made that conditions will be suitable for all disciplines or ability levels.
7. Liability
Waterskiing and watersports are inherently hazardous activities.
The Club accepts no responsibility for injury, loss, or damage to personal property except where caused by proven negligence.
Participants accept full responsibility for their own actions while on Club premises and on the water.
8. Photography & Media
Photographs or video recordings may be taken on Club premises for promotional or training purposes.
By attending the Club, participants consent to the use of such media unless they notify the Club in writing.
Personal filming must not interfere with safety, staff duties, or other participants.
9. Cancellations & Refunds (7-Day Policy)
Cancellations must be made at least 7 days (168 hours) prior to the scheduled session or course start date to be eligible for a refund or reschedule.
Cancellations made within 7 days of the booking are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Failure to attend a booked session (“no-show”) will result in the loss of the full session fee.
Medical exceptions may be considered only with valid written evidence and remain at the Club’s discretion.
If the Club cancels a session due to weather, safety concerns, staffing, or operational reasons, participants will be offered a rescheduled session or account credit. Cash refunds will only be issued where legally required.
Membership fees are non-refundable once the membership period has commenced.
10. Rules & Amendments
All Club rules must be followed at all times.
The Club reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions without prior notice.
The most current version will be available on the Club’s website or upon request.
11. Governing Law
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.
